JavaScript on the web is ubiquitous. How is it possible though that a dynamic language serves as a building block for small and large scale web applications alike? How are features added? In this talk we are answering those questions by exploring the lifecycle of JavaScript code and how it is optimized in Chrome's JavaScript virtual machine called V8. We are also looking at how V8 fits into the broader web platform and how various abstractions and layers ensure that JavaScript and the web in general can evolve so quickly.
