David Bassuk, Professor Emeritus at SUNY Purchase, blends transmedia storytelling, gameplay, and immersive design in directing and writing. Former Dean of Theater Arts and Film, he creates interactive live and virtual experiences. As Creative Director of White Horse Immersive (China), he’s worked with Alibaba and Tencent on large-scale projects. His latest work, AURORA, combines live performance, AR gameplay, and multimedia to explore identity and redemption. He also led Iraqi Futures 2050, a UN-supported simulation on water scarcity. Bassuk has held leadership roles with the NEA, Lincoln Center Theater, and Pew Foundation, and advises across arts and entertainment sectors.

From Cicero’s Memory Palace to AI-driven immersive worlds, we’ll examine how storytelling becomes a participatory, co-creative experience. Immersive experiences function like labyrinths, inviting active exploration and engaging all senses. Stories unfold through discovery, agency, and play rather than linear progression.
